Who Am I?
November 5, 2007
The search is on to answer the question, Who am I? We begin the search by allowing our interest to be identified. As you study the Word of God, What do you see Jesus doing? Once your interests are noticed, the next step is to take inventory of your talents and gifts. The Lord required this of Moses when He called him to be the deliverer. The Lord selected Moses, but Moses questioned the Lord's selection. Moses said, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" Moses, like most of us, was searching for the answer to the question, Who am I? The Father God answered Moses, "Look what you have in your hand." In the search, an inventory must be taken of all the talents and gifts in possession. Look what you have in your hand. What do you do well? What problems do you solve?

Who Are You?
October 19, 2007
Last week we covered how to isolate individual interest. To find a clue in discovering purpose, simply ask the question, "What do I see or take notice of, as I observe Christ in the Word of God?" Interest areas will be exposed in this way. This is the way John the Baptist found his purpose. He was asked, "Who are you?" He responded, "I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord." John the Baptist's answer was a direct quote from Isa. the 40th chapter. He had isolated his interests and found purpose as he studied the Word of God. And, as you and I study the Word of God, purpose will be revealed. The Father God's Word is also called the Book of Life; that's your life and mine. If you'll notice, I use the phrase, "find a clue."
It's a search. The Lord said, "You'll find me if you seek me with your whole heart."

My Place In This World
October 22, 2007
Michael W. Smith came out with a song a few years ago called, "My Place in This World." One line in the song is, "Looking for a reason, roaming through the night to find my place in this world." I've been there. Actually, I am there, and I believe many others are there as well. How does one find this place that they can call their own?
Jesus said it like this, "I only do those things that I see my Father doing." That which He noticed and recognized of the Father God, He did. So my question is, what do you see, notice, and recognize the Lord doing? Simply, as you read the Gospels, what stands out to you in the life of Christ? A minister I know once asked an old praying saint, "How do I know God's purpose for my life." The old-time saint replied, "What do you see Jesus doing?" The minister related, "I see Him teaching and preaching." The saint stated, "Then teach and preach with all your heart."

Who am I?
This is a question we can all relate to, for we all pros at asking it. We are all searching for depth of identity. This is not just maternal and paternal connection. I believe it is a search for identity from the One who made us. So we ask the question of the Father God, "Lord, who am I and for what reason have you made me?" It's not too hard to understand that the One who made us might have something to say concerning His creation. The scripture says, "We are fearfully and wonderfully made." So, back to the question we started with, "Who am I?" This is the starting place. I reach out to the Father God and ask. The Creator is the only One qualified to answer the question. If it would help any, even Moses asked this question of the Father God. The Lord said to Moses, "Deliver my people!" Then Moses responded, "Who am I?" You have not because you ask not.
